Description
Eucalypt bark, Yerrabi track, Namadgi National Park, Australia. The bark shows tracks of larvae of the Scribbly Gum Moth (Ogmograptis scribula). These zigzag tracks follow the insect’s life cycle. Eggs are laid between layers of old and new bark. The larvae burrow into the new bark and the trails become revealed as the old bark falls away.

Wonderful texture study! Are those carvings or natural insect meanderings? L/F
Werner Padarin replied:
Very glad you like the shot, William, thank you. The "scribbles" are natural - I've now added a little explanation to the image description - thanks for the prompt!
