Description
A corner of the podium of Humayun's tomb, Delhi, India. Humayun was a Mughal Emperor of India and the tomb was commissioned by his first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum in 1569-70. It was designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, a Persian architect as the first garden-tomb on the subcontinent and also the first structure to use red sandstone at such a scale. The tomb was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1993 (Ref: 232bis).
