Description
Jal Mahal ("Water Palace") in Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, India. The lake is artificial, being formed behind a dam first contructed circa 1610 by Raja Man Singh, the then ruler of Amer. Jal Mahal was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. Both the lake and the palace were renovated and enlarged in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amer. The palace is of five stories, four stories being submerged when the lake is full.
