Keoladeo National Park wetland in early morning fog. The park (named after the Shiva temple within its boundary) was originally a natural depression. Maharaja Suraj Mal, the ruler of Bharatpur between 1726–1763, had it flooded by constructing a bund at the confluence of the Gambhir and Banganga rivers to become a hunting ground for the maharajas of Bharatpur. Duck shoots were organised for the British viceroys and in one shoot, in 1938, over 4,273 birds are reported to have been killed by Lord Linlithgow, then Governor-General of India. The park was designated as a bird sanctuary in 1976, a Ramsar site in 1981 and declared a National Park in 1982. That year grazing in the park was banned resulting in violent clashes between local villagers and the government. In 1985 the Park was declared a World Heritage Site under the world Heritage Convention.

I photograph landscapes and people and mostly anything, even a bird if it happen to cross my path ... just as long as it is in front of the lens and I like how it looks - I hope these images appeal to you too. My images are from my home country, Australia, and from New Zealand which is just across the ditch, and also from Asia. On my website http://photography.padarin.net/ are links to other sites with my images. Some time ago I completed an interview in Pamela Williams' ART DISTRICT Magazine (http://www.pamelawilliamsphotography.com/blog/2017/6/the-art-district-magazine---vol-9-artist-spotlight-with-werner-padarin) which some of you might want to read if you want to learn more about me.
