Description
Panna Meena stepwell in Amer, India. There does not appear to be any confirmed history of this well, but legend has it that it was constructed in the 16th century thanks to the intervention ofPanna Meena, a eunuch in the Amber Fort court of Maharajah Jai Singh. Small round pavillions stand at each corner of the well, the shadow of one is seen here on the steps. Recent liberal application of orange yellow paint rather detracts from the well's appearance.
