Description
These intricately carved inscriptions are in bands around the Qutub Minar, a 5 storey 73 metre high tower on the outskirts of Delhi, India. The tower was built beginning in about 1192 and completed in 1220. The bottom three and the top storeys are of red sandstone and the incriptions are in Parso-Arabic and Nagari characters - there are Quaranic texts as well as texts revealing the history of the tower's construction (ref: Wikipedia). The tower sits amongst ancient ruins in a complex designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (ref 233).
