Description
Red tailed tropic bird (Phaethon rubricauda), Norfolk Island, Australia.
The common name refers to red tail quills which are apparently not sported by every bird or at least not all the time. This bird was coming across the water to land at the edge of a seacliff, but perhaps looking a bit wary of the photographer standing close by.
