Artist's Description
Panna Meena stepwell in Amer, India. There does not appear to be any confirmed history of this well, but legend has it that it was constructed in the 16th century thanks to the intervention of Panna Meena, a eunuch in the Amber Fort court of Maharajah Jai Singh. Recent liberal application of two shades of orange yellow paint rather detracts from its appearance.
